Tarrytown Homes for Sale

Possibly Austin's most prestigious and historic neighborhood, many of its residents - politicians, artists, businesspeople, and blue-blooded patrons - form the backbone of the city. You won't find many businesses in the main part of this gorgeous neighborhood, but there's no doubt that the populace want it that way.  

However, that's really not an issue, since it's so close to downtown. The neighborhood is situated west of MoPac, east of Lake Austin, north of Enfield, and south of 35th street. The main street, Exposition, runs North and South through the middle of town.

Local parks make for a nice walk and an excuse to, Tarrytown Park is just west of MoPac between Westover and Windsor, and nearby Reed Park is just off Pecos. The Tarrytown Pharmacy off Exposition is like a small town pharmacy stuck in time, which really reflects the whole feel of the neighborhood in a way. But the Randall's off Exposition still makes for easy trips to the big grocery store. And if you want to dine nearby, Nu Age Cafe in the Tarrytown Shopping Center serves up delicious vegetarian (and vegan) comfort food as multifarious as its funky interior design.

But if you're not in the mood for herbivorous cuisine, you've got a number of options off Town Lake Boulevard. For instance, Hula Hut is an extravagant seafood hot spot right on the lake. Afterward, you can just saunter next door to Mozart's for coffee and dessert on their lakeside patio. But if you're in need of late-night grub, Magnolia Cafe will make you nearly anything, anytime. And the Thundercloud Subs next door is always a great choice for an afternoon soup and sandwich.

Being close to the lake has always been important to Austin's residents. Consequently, many important sites are in the area, including Laguna Gloria, a Mediterranean villa on the shores of Lake Austin, which was built on a site where Stephen F. Austin himself once planned to build a home. The historic villa was the original Austin Museum of Art, and although the museum moved to its downtown location, special exhibits still come out to the lake occasionally.

Tarrytown real estate consists mostly of very large, old homes. But some high-end apartments are to be found as well. Many of the Tarrytown homes are characterized by unusual architecture, making for a pleasantly eclectic milieu. To be sure, Tarrytown properties are among the finest you'll find in the city.

All I can say is Jeff was great. We were looking for a condo in the UT campus area.We had received several mailers from area realtors/brokers who target out of state students about the benefits and requirements for obtaining in state tuition. I set them aside and thought about all the advantages of, one, getting out of the UT dorms in COVID environment, and two, in state tuition. Our daughter absolutely loves Austin and knew that is where she wanted to attend. Her program is a 5 year program so we knew she’d be in for the long haul. I found Jeff, and your brokerage firm through a Google search and Jeff promptly returned my call. I had already identified a few properties that were of interest and Jeff was great at giving me feedback since I was out of state. He was readily available to show the properties to my daughter. Jeff knew my concerns with the dense population of west campus and the “party-Greek life”, security concerns, re-sale, and our desire to have a more “quite older neighborhood/community”. Since we were cash buyers and the property we purchased was fairly active with showings, he wrote the contract fast and negotiated it for us over the weekend, even on a UT game day! I understand his love and loyalty to UT eventhough we are Sooners. When it came to closing and inspection, Jeff made several recommendations of service providers and I couldn’t be happier with any of them.He was extremely patient with us since we were out of state buyers and I feel he genuinely looked out for our best interest.
