Are You Moving to Austin?

Relocation Services & Process

Welcome! We Love Helping People Relocate to Austin!

We've helped hundreds of happy clients relocate to Austin from around the United States (and some from around the world!) While the buying process is generally the same, we understand the unique challenges you face when both relocating & purchasing. Read about our relocation process below, along with some of our past client testimonials, and tips for a successful relocation to Austin!

Services & Process

  1. Initial Consultation

To get started, we like to schedule a short phone call to discuss your search. We'll want to establish your time frame, your goals, your price range, & your location needs. Do you prefer to communicate by email initially? That's no problem at all!
  2. Area & Neighborhood Recommendations

After we've discussed what you need in your new home & what's important to you with regards to location, we will send a list of area & neighborhood recommendations. These will fit your budget, your commute, and any other important location specific criteria like schools or proximity to entertainment.
  3. Targeted Property Searches

It's great for you to search online on your own, but we will also set up highly targeted property searches based on the locations we've identified and your specific needs in your new home. The MLS provides us a powerful property search that we have years of experience using, so we can taylor your searches just for you. We will create a separate search for each area/neighborhood that you want to explore, which allows you to easily organize your search.
  4. Organize Your Favorites

We'll provide a client portal that allows you to save favorites, possibilities, and discard properties that you don't like. You can make notes on properties so that you can easily remember what you liked about each home. If you're buying your new home with your partner or family, this allows you to share your thoughts on different properties and areas easily.
  5. Tour Areas & Properties

We are happy to spend as much time with you as you would like when you make your trip to Austin. We typically like to spend time touring as many neighborhoods as possible so that you can get a feel for which location fits you the best, and we're also happy to show you as many homes as you would like to see to feel comfortable that you understand the market & your options.
  6. Vendor Recommendations

Since you're new to town, we're happy to provide you with a list of vendors that we've worked with for years. We can recommend a great mortgage lender, home inspector, insurance provider, landscaper, and more! If you need help finding help, just ask!
  7. Move Forward With a Purchase

When you're ready to move forward with your purchase, we will guide you through the traditional home buying process. We do understand that a relocation can present unique challenges that usually involve purchasing remotely, and we're happy to help you through this process.

Tips for a Great Relocation to Austin

Plan at Least Two Trips

While we’ve successfully helped clients purchase a home on a single trip, we’ve found that an initial “scouting trip” helps you identify which neighborhood(s) you really want to focus on. A follow-up trip where the focus is to find your new home is much less stressful & more beneficial because you’ve already picked out where you want to live, so you just have to pick out your house.

Close Remotely on Your New Home Before You Move

Moving is stressful enough. Arriving in town w/ a full truck, closing, funding, collecting your keys, and then directing your movers in one day is even more stressful. We can set up a remote closing for you wherever you would like (a notary comes to you to close the day before funding.) We’ll perform your final walk through for you & are happy to video chat or send a video walk through so that you’re confident the property is in good shape.

Consider Making an Offer Site Unseen

If you’ve made a couple of trips to Austin & haven’t found “the one” then we can preview homes & upload walk-through videos on properties you’re interested in. If the property looks great, you can make an offer & put it under contract prior to flying to Austin to confirm it’s “the one.” Bear in mind that you will have a 7-10 day option period during which your earnest money is protected, so the risk is a $200-$500 option fee + a plane ticket. If you don’t like the house, you can terminate the contract.

Create a Backup Plan

It reduces a lot of stress on your trip if you have a Plan B. If you don’t find your home on your trip, this could mean another trip, or considering making an offer site unseen. A last resort is always a short term rental, which isn’t ideal, but does allow you plenty of time to search & make your decision after the move. Regardless of what your backup plan is, simply having one will reduce your stress levels enormously.
We would love to help you with your relocation.

It was absolutely a pleasure working with Kasey and her team. They helped us sell our home in a very short time, thanks to Kasey’s sharp pricing analysis and invaluable advice on getting the home prepped for showings. Their unflagging support in keeping everything organized was impressive. I’ve been thoroughly impressed in every conceivable way. Their blend of professionalism combined with a personal touch truly stands out. It’s evident they are as committed to selling the property as if it were their own, which is precisely what I seek in an agent. Kasey consistently went the extra mile

We enjoyed working with Robin Deshotels throughout the entire process. She was timely, efficient, available and a great listener. I contacted her late on a Friday and she already had info to us the next morning and met us for showings the next day. She has extensive knowledge and made us feel at ease with the entire process. I would recommend her for your real estate needs!

I recently closed on my first home and firmly believe it wouldn’t have happened without Sarah Spacek’s help and experience. She was patient with my many questions, provided a calming presence for me as a first-time home buyer, and always had my best interest in mind. Her communication was timely, clear, and concise as well. She also helped navigate a tricky situation regarding a pending repair and we were still able to close on the originally planned date. Ultimately, I got a great deal on a home I’m happy with thanks to her ability and effort. She even followed up with me a week after I moved in to see how my move went and if I needed anything. I absolutely would recommend her for anyone needing a realtor, and I won’t hesitate to go with her again to buy or sell a home.

My wife and I were looking for a home for a very special reason and we were short on time. We met with Haval and he immediately put us at ease. He listened to our story and understood what we were looking for from the beginning and how important it was. He was extremely responsive, always texting or calling us back immediately, any time we had a question. He’s very knowledgeable and always took time to explain things. When we got discouraged or worried, Haval was there to put our minds at ease. He even took the time to come to our closing. We highly recommend Haval. We couldn’t have gotten through this process without him.

I can’t say enough about the great experience I had working with Lindsey. She worked with me for over a year and helped navigate through several challenges in the Austin market. Lindsey was always patient, consultative and professional – she was not there to just say “yes” to every house I chose, but provided trusted guidance with my best interest in mind. Lindsey was proactive every step of the way and truly drives the process with her depth of experience. She understands how significant the home buying process is and treats it as such – this is not just a financial transaction for her. I have already recommended her to several friends and will continue to do so.

Ruth helped us to view many houses and (over months) to make multiple offers in a really, really tough market for buyers. Our low bids were our own fault! Ruth’s guesses are always spot on. We finally had a bid accepted last month, and Ruth helped us re-negotiate after significant problems were discovered. Ruth has gone above and beyond for us, giving us far more time during this long search than we could reasonably have expected. She even helped us look for a rental when we’d basically given up. Her advice has always been immensely valuable and brutally honest. She is the most knowledgeable agent I’ve met on the Central Austin market. She also handled our stress well, and believe me, buying in Austin right now is stressful!

JC was very helpful during the process of buying my first home. He directed me to lenders that truly had my best interest at heart. I almost made a few bad decisions that JC was there to wave off for me. I truly appreciate JC’s responsiveness to ALL of my many questions and his willingness to be a sounding board for my frustrations in the process. I still hear from JC from time to time ensuring that I am happy with my home and letting me know of up and coming business in my area that might affect my property value. I will absolutely be using JC to purchase my next home.

JC does a great job with attention to detail and ensuring he has answers to your questions as you navigate the process of a home purchase. JC understands the process of the transaction in a home purchase and makes sure the details are covered.

JC is the best! I have referred him to several of my close friends who have all enjoyed working with him and found great places to live.

JC takes the time to listen to your needs and take note of your like & dislikes to find you the perfect match.

He helped me find my current place and I plan on using him as my realtor again when I’m ready to upgrade.

Very understanding of what we want in home, very patient, very helpful, very friendly, knowledgeable, has kept contact with us continuously on the information needed, has kept in contact with us after we rented our home and hope to help us in the future to buy a home.

JC is awesome. We sold our house and were in the market for a new one. He worked day and night trying to find us a house that we liked, even though we were continually changing our minds. His job was tough because of where we set our budget and the area we wanted to be in. He was nothing but positive. I am super happy that we used him and I know we’ve got a friend for life! Thanks JC – the whole process was made better by his wisdom and sense of humor. We will definitely use him in the future!

I met JC as an agent representing the people that bought a house that I had listed for sale. So he was on the other side of the transaction. I quickly realized that he is the type of agent and person that I wanted to work with. After the closing, I approached him and asked him if he would like to represent me on my next purchase and things quickly fell into place. He immediately developed a plan, followed through and we had a signed contract within days! He is serious yet has a sense of humor and is very approachable. He is calm during a storm, a very important attribute when negotiating a deal and he follows up without having to push him for results. I very much appreciated him knowledge of the market and how he handled things from start to finish. Very highly recommended; look no further!
